From grassroots volunteers to digital allies, we are building a network of Igbo women and girls who are proud of their cultural heritage.
Ginikanwanyi is a a gender advocacy organisation focused on educating, mentoring, and inspiring young Igbo women with the goal of empowering them to lead their lives with confidence, purpose, and pride in their cultural heritage.
Our work centres on reconnecting Igbo girls with the true history of Igbo womanhood, not just the narrow definitions often portrayed in popular culture. Through this, they can learn to reclaim their agency, embrace their Igbo identity, and strive for excellence beyond the limitations that societal norms often dictate.
Through storytelling, research, activism and sisterhood, we aim to reinstitute pride in our cultural values as Igbo women.
Join us to inspire young Igbo girls, lead school outreaches, and bring feminist history to life.
"Being an Igbo woman in this community means carrying strength in my voice and softness in my heart but also rewriting what it means to be an Igbo woman in this generation"
